In line with today’s global industry culture, Piramal Healthcare Research’s project management function is an attempt to ensure that we are not just executing projects, but are making sure that they meet with our business strategy and needs, and deliver results that support our corporate goals.
The Project management function consists of project managers with diverse backgrounds, ranging from PhDs to management professionals who facilitate, organize and simplify projects in each of the four therapeutic areas from discovery through development. With that in mind, there are several basic functions that the project managers perform.
These include:
- Setting project objectives and priorities in terms of short-term, medium-term, long-term goals.
- Tracking project performance and progress against objectives with respect to time, resources and deliverables.
- Interfacing with different internal stake holders to track costs against budgets and manage outsource expenditure on the projects.
- Liaisoning with the technical and nontechnical internal stake holders and keeping them informed about the progress; helping accelerate the decision making process.
- Identifying anticipated risks and issues; applying appropriate risk mitigation strategies in consensus with project teams.
- Coordinating with external collaborators to track milestones and manage Piramal’s strategic alliances.
- Regularly reviewing progress of projects with senior management for their buy in and advice.
